Some of our favorite Local Restaurants
Breakfast – Joey’s Pancake House (Maggie Valley) – We hear great things about this place (our neighbors rave about it!). However, we’ve not been there yet. It’s hard to get into and always busy, so we figure it must be good!
Brunch – Beach Mountain Diner (Waynesville) – We love this place! Great service, cute, modern diner feel, and good food. Outdoor seating area.
Lunch – The Patio Bistro (Waynesville) – Located in downtown Waynesville. They offer diverse menu options and the patio is private, quaint and cute!
Thai – Suwana (Waynesville) – Located in downtown Waynesville. Good curry, stir-fry and sushi.
Sushi – Watami Sushi & Noodles (Waynesville) – Located in downtown Waynesville (just down the street from Suwana). More extensive sushi menu than Suwana and they have a nice outdoor patio space.
Pizza – Doughboys (Waynesville) – Local family owned. The pizza here is very good! They offer unique weekly specials, topping choices, and combinations including a gluten free crust option. The menu also offers an assortment of other items along with a large beer selection. Outdoor, dining room, and bar area available.
Pizza – Waynesville Pizza (Waynesville) – Very good pizza with plenty of seating.
Pizza Takeout – Bizzarro Pasta and Pizza (Maggie Valley) – Small space but our favorite takeout pizza in the area, we personally prefer the red sauce over the garlic sauce but to each their own.
Pub – Bogarts Tavern (Waynesville) – Comfort food, unique sandwiches, great sirloin and friendly service. Parking lot is small and often full, however don’t be misled, seating is often available.
Seafood – Maggie’s Galley (Waynesville) – Many consider this the best restaurant in the area for the price tag. We feel it is definitely worth trying.
Some of our favorite Local breweries and wineries
Blue Ridge Beer Hub (Waynesville) – a local beer and wine shop in downtown Waynesville with a variety of local rotating taps. Includes a small bar, indoor seating and an outdoor patio area.
Frog Level Brewery (Waynesville) – Food, beer, wine and non-alcoholic options. Includes a spacious, beautiful outdoor sitting area. Local artwork for sale and they often have live music playing.
Boojum Brewery (Waynesville) – Located in downtown Waynesville. In addition to the brewery, they have a full bar and restaurant with a covered patio/outdoor area, and ‘The Gem’ space in the basement with live music and comedy.
Bosu’s Wine Shop (Waynesville) – Diverse wine selection with some beer options. Owned and operated by a very friendly married couple, this place has a cute indoor and outdoor space with a kitchen for food and snacks. Limited hours, you’ll want to check their website.
Innovation Brewery (Sylva) – Excellent beer selection (they make a great Hazy IPA and offer a variety of sours). Outdoor patio space and food truck on site. There is a terrific wood fire pizza restaurant next door (Pie Times) that will deliver to the brewery.
Balsam Falls Brewery (Sylva) – Includes a full restaurant. Very limited outdoor seating.
New Belguim (Asheville) – There are many in Asheville but this is our favorite as it is some of the best beer, best outdoor space, best prices, and they allow you to bring food in which most do not.
What we feel is Worth the trip to Asheville
There are many great breweries and restaurants in Asheville. We have not explored many but feel these are definitely worth the trip: Hillmann Brewery, 12 Bones Brewery and BBQ, Khao Thai, New Belgium Brewery (listed above), Gingers Revenge Brewery (for those cider lovers), and Vinnie’s Italian to name a few.
A little further of a drive… Meadowsweet Creamery in Mars Hill & Weaverville. It is a longer drive than Ashville but in our opinion it is the best ice cream we have ever had (and we have tried many), everything is made from scratch.
